Thousands of people are expected to demonstrate this evening (Saturday) on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv against the reform of the government's judicial system.

Later, the protest procession is expected to leave from there, and it will march through the streets of Menachem Begin, Parshat Ka'avein, Arlozorov, Derech Namir, Shaul HaMelech and Dubnov - until Kiryat Shlamer.

At the same time, a demonstration will be held in front of the Herzliya Magistrate's Court, in the municipality square, the organizers expect about a thousand participants.

The unusually early hour provoked angry reactions from protesters, who claimed that the move was made with the aim of preventing them from arriving and reducing the size of the protest.

Labor Party Chairman Merav Michaeli sent a letter to Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai protesting the measure.

"Leaving roads open is a necessity for those citizens who wish to exercise their basic right to protest," wrote Michaeli.

A number of organizations will come to the demonstration, including the Movement for the Quality of Government, which will demonstrate separately in the plaza of the Bima Square starting at 19:00, then join the other organizations and demonstrators on Kaplan Street.

Senior public figures will speak at the demonstration in the square and it will be held in coordination with the municipality and the police.

Starting at 4:45 p.m., the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Kaplan Street will be blocked from Ibn Gvirol to Menachem Begin in both directions.

  • Leonardo Da Vinci St. will be blocked from Haftman St. to Shaul Hamelech St. in both directions.

  • Leskov Street will be blocked from Haftman Street to Kaplan in the north direction.

  • Dubnov Street will be blocked from Mana Street to Shaul Hamelech Blvd in the south direction, from Shaul Hamelech Blvd to Kaplan in both directions.

  • Arnia Street will be blocked from Harvea Street to Kaplan Street heading north.

  • Ibn Gvirol Street will be blocked between Shaul Hamelech Street and Marmorak Street towards the south.

  • Dizengoff Street will be blocked between King George Street and Ibn Gvirol Street in both directions.

  • Sderot 1959 will be blocked from Dizengoff to Hima Square in both directions.

  • Sderot Chen will be blocked from Hanaviyim Street to Dizengoff Street in the south direction.

  • Marmorak Street will be blocked between Ibn Gvirol Street and 1479 Street towards the west.

  • Rothschild Boulevard will be blocked from Hashmonaim Street to Hima Square heading north.

  • Sderot Ben Zion will be blocked from King George Street to Ahad Ha'am in the east direction.

  • Ahad Ha'am Street will be blocked from Hashmonaim Street to the Hima square in the north direction.

  • Karlibach Street will be blocked from Hashmonaim Street to Ibn Gvirol Street in the west direction.

  • Shaul Hamelech Boulevard will be blocked from Ibn Gvirol Street to Weizman Street in both directions.

  • Starting at 4:45 p.m., the ramps to the Peace Interchange on Ayalon lanes from the north and south will be closed to traffic.

Starting at 18:45, the following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Jabotinsky Street in Ramat Gan will be closed to traffic from Abba Hillel Street to the crossroad heading south.

  • Derech Menachem Begin will be closed to traffic from the crossroads to Derech Namir in both directions.

  • Arabi Nahal Street will be closed to traffic from Yigal Alon Street to Menachem Begin Street heading west.

  • Menachem Begin Road will be closed to traffic from Shaul Hamelech St. to Hashmonaim St. in both directions, including the sunsets.

  • Hamsgar St. will be closed to traffic from Yitzhak Sade St. to Menachem Begin St. in a northerly direction.

  • Derech Namir will be blocked to traffic from Pankas St. to Shaul Hamelech Boulevard in the south direction.

  • Parshat Road will be closed to traffic from Menachem Begin to Namir Road in both directions (including the exit from the bus terminal).

  • Arlozorov Street will be closed to traffic from Weitzman Street to Nemir Street heading east.

  • Henrietta Sold Street will be blocked from Dafna Street to Shaul Hamelech Street.

  • Weizman Street will be closed to traffic from David the King Blvd to Shaul the King Blvd in the south direction.

Traffic arrangements for buses to transport participants in events:

  • For those coming from the north: drop off passengers on Shaul Hamelech Boulevard between Weizman Street and Leonardo Da Vinci Street.

  • For those coming from the south: dropping off passengers on Hasmonaim Street between Karlibach and Menachem Begin and parking in Carmelit.

  • Picking up passengers at the end of the check in those places.
