minister of Sweden planned to arrive in Ankara next week at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart and discuss with him the process of his country joining NATO.
However, Turkey is enraged by the recent demonstrations against it in Sweden, including one in which a doll of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was displayed hanging by its feet, and it is expected to delay the ratification of Sweden's entry into the alliance.

"At this point, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Johnson's visit to Turkey on January 27 has become meaningless. So we canceled the visit," Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Aker said this morning.
"It is unacceptable that they didn't take steps or react to it (the protests). The necessary things should have been done, steps should have been taken," said Aker, who conveyed the message from Erdogan to his Swedish counterpart on the sidelines of a meeting of a group of defense ministers from countries that support Ukraine.
