A 13-year-old boy was arrested yesterday (Saturday) in the Old City of Jerusalem with a knife on him, it is suspected that he intended to carry out a stabbing attack.
The boy, a resident of East Jerusalem, aroused the suspicion of the police on the spot, so they searched him, then found the knife.
The 13-year-old will be brought to the court today for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
The commander of the Jerusalem district, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, praised the vigilance of the police officers and said: "This is another example of the professionalism of the Jerusalem district police officers and MGB fighters working in the city in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
It was the vigilance of the police officers, their quick response and pursuit of contact that led to the arrest of the suspect.
