At 12:09 noon on the first day of the Lunar New Year, a fire broke out in a high-rise unit at No. 9 Robinson Road, West Mid-Levels.
According to the news from the scene, the fire unit was engulfed in a sea of flames, thick smoke was blowing out of the windows, and the outer walls of the two or three floors upstairs were also blackened.
Firefighters responded to the report and were on the scene, and 6 ambulances were on standby.
Robinson Road was closed and the traffic was heavy at the moment. According to sources at the scene, 6 people were sent to the hospital, including a firefighter and a man in his 40s who was unconscious.
The fire department lowered the fire to level 3 at 1.12pm.
As of 1:23 p.m., the fire was still on, police said.
It was reported that there were 3 women and 7 dogs in the unit.
According to the news from the scene, the resident was singing karaoke in the unit at that time, during which the karaoke machine smoked and burned the curtains.
Thick smoke was coming from the unit.
