As part of the activities carried out by the Directorate of Culture, the branch of the Arab Writers Union, and the Safsaf al-Khabour Association, the Arab Cultural Center in the city of Hasakah hosted a lecture by writer and storyteller Muhammad Baqi Muhammad, entitled “Language and Identity.”

The research study presented by the author focused on the relationship of language to identity and the role of culture and science in enhancing the factors of strength of identity, pointing out that language is linked to the factors of belonging and constitutes an inclusive axis of identity, because it emerges from the framework and individual to collective differentiation. Language and identity are two sides of the same coin.

The writer pointed out that a distinction must be made between the relationship of identity with language, culture and science, and that the role of language is broader and more comprehensive, just as language and identity both strengthen and weaken together, especially at historical turning points.

The cultural activities carried out by the Directorate of Culture, the branch of the Arab Writers Union, and the Safsaf Al-Khabour Cultural Association will be completed this week, with a lecture by the researcher Ahmed Al-Hussein next Wednesday at twelve o'clock in the cultural center of Al-Hasakah.
