Future New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins was confirmed as leader of the ruling Labor Party on Sunday, ahead of his inauguration by the country's Governor General on Wednesday.

The latter has been a Member of Parliament since 2008 and Minister for Social Development since 2017. About 8% of New Zealand's 5.1 million people identify as Pasikifa.
Grant Robertson, Jacinda Ardern's deputy prime minister, is expected to remain in government as finance minister.
