The Minister of Labor also confirms that the minimum pension of 1,200 euros gross per month will also concern current retirees, i.e. 1.8 million people.

A new demining operation.

On the eve of the presentation of the pension reform in the Council of Ministers, scheduled for Monday, January 23, Olivier Dussopt again defends the merits and the progress of the text in an interview with the Sunday newspaper.

Mitigating the effect of the postponement of the legal retirement age from 62 to 64, the Minister of Labor affirms in particular that "

the effective retirement age [62.9 years today, editor's note] does not will in reality only shift by around six months on average, and only three months for those with the lowest pensions

”.

This results in particular from our long career scheme, with a new threshold at 18, and the maintenance of the possibility of leaving from the age of 62 for disabled people, and at 67 at full rate for those who have long career breaks

” , explains the former socialist.

According to him, “

the winners of the reform are the most modest French people, those who have had cut careers, women – and also all French people who will improve their pensions

In this interview, the Minister of Labor confirms that the minimum pension of 1200 euros gross per month will also concern current retirees.

The bill presented on Monday "

will include the revaluation of small pensions for current retirees who have worked all their lives at the minimum wage, not just future ones

," he says.

This measure will concern “

around 200,000 new retirees each year, i.e. nearly one in four retirements, to which must be added 1.8 million current retirees

”, adds the president of the small party Territories of Progress, against two million mentioned so far.

“Restore a maximum of equality”

If the pensions will increase on average, puts forward the minister, “

this reform is redistributive

”, he insists, “

because it is the poorest pensioners who will see their pension at the liquidation increase the most

”.

Olivier Dussopt quotes the impact study of the bill, which will be presented on Monday, and which "

shows an increase of almost 5% for the lowest 20% of pensions, against less than 1% for the 20% of highest pensions

.

As for women's pensions, still according to the impact study, "

in the long term

" its increase "

will be twice as large as that which men will experience (+2.2% against +0.9%)

", underlines he.

To the question of whether it is not unfair that workers who began to contribute at age 20 must always contribute at 44 and not 43, the Minister also replies that some "

are leaving today after 44 years of contributions when the law only requires 42

”.

We are closing this gap

,” he insists.

With this reform, "

we have achieved our objective: to restore maximum equality

", summarizes Olivier Dussopt, also stressing that with the maintenance of the retirement age at full rate at 67, "

the gap between the duration minimum and the maximum duration of work to leave at full rate will never have been so low

" and that the maximum discount will go "

from 25% to 15%

".
