The American city of Atlanta witnessed demonstrations to protest the killing of an environmental activist, who was shot by city police last week, which quickly turned into riots and crackdowns.
And the Associated Press reported today that masked activists dressed in black threw stones and lit fireworks in front of a headquarters that includes the Atlanta Police Corporation, smashed glass windows, set fire to a police car, and wrote on the walls phrases against American police violence.
The 26-year-old was killed last Wednesday while the police were dispersing protesters who demonstrated against the authorities' cutting and uprooting of trees at the site of a training center that is planned to be built in the city.
Protesters say the $90 million project to be built by the Atlanta Police Institute for Urban Warfare Training involves cutting down a lot of trees, causing significant damage to the environment.
