In recent months, there has been an increase in incidents of road violence, culminating in the murder of Yuri Volkov at a crosswalk in Holon, after he warned a motorcyclist who was crossing a red-light intersection, and other serious attacks that shocked many in the country.

According to police data, in 2020, 1,112 cases were opened on suspicion of road violence across the country, in 2021 the number rose to 1,234 cases, and last year it reached about 1,400 cases.

Between 2020 and 2022, about a thousand suspects were arrested on suspicion of violent offenses on the roads.

According to a survey by the "Or Yerok" association, one out of two Israelis reported encountering a fight on the road.

The survey, which was designed to examine the proportion of people who report various phenomena of anger and aggression on the part of drivers in Israel, also shows that 79% of Israelis reported that they encountered verbal violence and threatening movements at least once in the past year.
