The plantings in the area of the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev will take place in an orderly fashion - this is what KKL chairman Yifat Ovadia Loski announced today (Sunday).
This, after last year the plantings in the area caused protests by the Arab population there, and were temporarily stopped due to the clashes in the area.
The plantings are expected to take place on Sunday next week.
This is the first decision taken by Ovadia Loski, who recently took up her position.
As part of the plantings, agricultural works will be carried out in the Nahal Yatir area "on state lands that protect against invasions, environmental damage, illegal construction and trespassing - common phenomena in the area in question".
"KKL is at the forefront of preserving the land, developing it and building it," said Ovadia Loski. "Holding and preserving the land along with settlement and planting are the values of KKL-JV since the beginning of Zionism, and we are proud to be leaders in these fields even today. Together with KKL-Junk management and its employees will continue to work to build the country."

The Minister of the Negev, the Galilee and National Resilience, Yitzhak Wasserlauf, from Otzma Yehudit, claimed in an official statement that the decision to hold the plantings in the area was made due to pressure on his part.
Last year, KKL-Junk's planting work in the area was halted following violent riots by the diaspora, during which two police officers were injured. However, the work resumed two days later under heavy security and high police alertness.

The issue of the plantings sparked a public debate with voices from within the government at the time, including those who supported their termination, in front of politicians who expressed support for the KKL-Junk works. The Minister of Construction and Housing at the time, Ze'ev Elkin, said that these were works being done on state land and expressed support for the Israel Land Authority, which is responsible for the works .
