40 paintings of various disciplines summarized the experience of the late plastic artist Abdul Karim Faraj through a retrospective exhibition of his works, which was hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh, Damascus, in the presence of a group of plastic artists.

The exhibition brought together many works and special experiences of the late, which varied between graphics, printing on stone, metal, wood, and modern collage art.

Other paintings also embodied the rural nature with its components and elements on the colorful collage paintings, to summarize an artistic journey saturated with academic studies and experiences that enriched the Syrian plastic life.

A summary of those experiences was presented in the exhibition as a loving tribute to the spirit of the late plastic artist Abdel Karim Faraj on the occasion of his first death anniversary. This is what the director of the Arab Cultural Center, plastic artist Rabab Ahmed, explained in a statement to SANA correspondent, noting that the exhibition aims to introduce the public, especially the new generation, to that legacy. The rich cultural, which is unique in mixing plastic materials on the surface of one painting.

The Secretary of the Union of Fine Artists, Ghassan Ghanem, confirmed that the exhibition is a vision that supports the art of engraving on wood, metal, and paper, and the art of collage that characterized the paintings of the great late, which constitute an artistic treasure that enriches the plastic movement and introduces the young generation to innovative methods for mixing various disciplines of engraving and graphic arts. It presents it to the widest possible segment of society, to be instilled in the Syrian plastic memory.

As for the plastic artist, Dr. Muhammad Ghanoum, he saw that the late is an irreparable loss in the Syrian plastic movement, and that his cultural achievement is influential because of the multiple works he presented, in addition to being a veteran professor at the College of Fine Arts and the richest scientific library of Syrian plastic art with his research and studies, not to mention being a writer for it. Books, translations, research, criticism and studies published in a number of newspapers and magazines. He has a unique experience in the field of photography.

The plastic artist, Nashat Al-Zoubi, explained that the experience of the late doctor began from his rural environment in As-Suwayda, which he adored until he made from its soul print paintings full of color dialogue between black and white, which were loaded with means that he extracted intuition from his village and its deaf basalt components, where he blew bright colors within the black. In it, he translated his color appetite by using colored pieces of cloth in collage paintings, and he also expressed his innermost self in a contemporary way that mixed his connection to his land with his keeping pace with modernity, which gave it richness and diversity.

Between the old and the contemporary, the colors varied in his paintings, so white, black and brown dominated in the seventies and eighties, and the colors danced in the post-2004 contemporary era through his collage art project. This was shown by the niece of the late May Farag, indicating that for her he was a role model and ideal.

The exhibition will continue until the end of this week.
