Babies found dead in Haute-Savoie: the mother indicted for murder

The mother of the two babies found dead on January 1 in an apartment in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie) has been indicted for "

murder

" and imprisoned, the Annecy prosecutor's office announced to AFP on Monday.

The respondent was placed in police custody on Thursday as soon as his compulsory hospitalization was lifted.

She was presented to an investigating judge on Saturday, indicted for murder of a 15-year-old minor and placed in pre-trial detention

Hospitalized under duress

The mother was immediately arrested and then hospitalized under duress because of her state of health.

She admitted to giving birth twice to children who died very soon after birth in circumstances she cannot explain.

The autopsy, carried out on January 4 in Grenoble, had not made it possible to determine the date and the cause of death, which were to be determined by additional analyses.

The young woman lived as a couple with two children born in 2020 and 2021. Her companion since 2019, who had been abroad since mid-December, had been placed in police custody for concealment of a corpse on January 5 upon his return to France. France, then released the next day without any charges being brought against him.
