When he was about four kilometers before the Wolfratshausen junction at about 150 kilometers per hour in the left lane, he suddenly had to brake hard because of a chunk of ice lying on the road.

The car skidded in wintry road conditions, collided first with the central safety barrier and then with a following Toyota Corolla, which the 64-year-old from the Unterallgäu district was driving.

The 64-year-old also lost control of his vehicle and threw himself against the right-hand crash barrier.

Both drivers and the 68-year-old passenger from the Weilheim area in the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

They came to the hospital for treatment.

According to the VPI, the Mercedes suffered damage of around 15,000 euros and the Toyota 10,000 euros.

Both vehicles had to be towed.

The repair of the crash barriers could cost a good 7000 euros.

The lane towards Munich was initially closed for about ten minutes while the accident was being recorded and the cleaning and rescue measures were being carried out.

After another 30 minutes, during which the left lane was blocked, the VPI was able to completely open the traffic.

In addition to the police, the Beuerberg fire brigade was deployed with numerous forces, as well as the Starnberg motorway maintenance department with a vehicle.
