(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 23 - Glass recycling is learned at school desks.

The Coreve Consortium (Glass Recovery Consortium), in collaboration with the H-Farm digital platform which develops projects, is launching the first structured program for all Italian schools (kindergarten, primary and secondary schools) dedicated to the circular economy of glass.

It is an innovative project, the organizers explain in a joint press release, "to make young people aware of the opportunities represented by the correct delivery of packaging, as well as the extraordinary potential of this 'immortal' material as it can be recycled infinite times".

The program of innovative training activities is associated with a competition which offers a total prize money of 26,000 euros which can be used for the purchase of teaching material.

The Consortium has made available to teachers a series of kits developed to be used independently, for structuring lessons.

Downloadable free of charge from the Coreve website, the kits are designed for the various school cycles, with educational content and supports suitable for each age group.

"With a national recycling rate of 76.6%, Italy is among the most virtuous countries at European level having already exceeded the EU target of 75% set for 2030 for 3 years - recalls the president of Coreve, Gianni Scotti - However, according to the study conducted by AstraRicerche, 58.6% of young people between the ages of 14 and 24 do not dispose of the packaging correctly".

For secondary school, in particular, a "Startup Lab" is foreseen, developed on a 4-hour course of face-to-face lessons during school hours, which will engage children in planning real startups: the goal is to solve problems realities linked to the glass recycling chain, such as for example the abandonment of bottles on the street, a phenomenon that very often characterizes nightlife evenings in Italian cities", explains the note.
