In protest of the cases of violence: the hospitals started a one-day strike - voila! news

For 24 hours, the hospitals will work in a Shabbat and holiday format and will operate only the emergency treatments, such as intensive care, emergency rooms and delivery rooms. The doctors in the IDF and the hospital administrators will work as usual. The general, geriatric, psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals began a 24-hour strike this morning (Monday), in protest of the serious incidents of violence against the medical staff.

The hospitals will work today in the format of Shabbat and holiday, and only the emergency treatments will work.



The strike started this morning at 07:00 and will end tomorrow at 07:00.

The emergency treatments that will operate are urgent dialysis services;

ICU;

emergency rooms;

delivery rooms;

prematurity;

and oncological treatments.

CEOs, hospital managers, IDF doctors, the Ministry of Defense, the police and the prison service did not sit down.

The doctors working in the health bureaus, doctors in the schools, doctors working in government offices and other medical institutions as well as doctors performing administrative duties will also join the strike.

The hospitals will work on Saturdays and holidays.

The community clinics of the health funds will remain open, but all the doctors in them will be able to decide whether to strike, subject to the cancellation of their appointments.

The health bureaus also sat in the government offices, among others the outpatient clinics.

The provision of IVF treatments will be examined individually by the Exceptions Committee which will discuss each case individually.

Unless otherwise decided by the Exceptions Committee, these will be disabled.



The Medical Association, in which they announced the strike, pointed an accusing finger at the Ministry of Health and claim that despite the increasing violence, the Ministry of Health, the hospitals and the health funds are not doing enough to eradicate those cases of violence.

"Unfortunately, not enough security guards were added to protect the medical teams, the punishment was not made worse, reporting systems were not implemented to prevent incidents of violence, and nothing was done to keep the doctors safe," they explained.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov, sent a letter to all employees in the health system, in which he expressed concern about the escalation in cases of violence. He announced that in February, a "hot line" will be opened as part of the "Voice of Health" hotline of the Ministry of Health, for reporting incidents of violence against the medical staff. Detail and an explanation of the service will be published on the Ministry of Health website.



In addition, a "Desk" for managing complaints about violence at the Ministry of Health headquarters will begin to operate, the purpose of which is to centralize the incidents of violence in the health system, individual monitoring of the complaints, the indictments and the accompanying legal processes.
