(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JAN 23 - Promoting the role of Italy in the western Balkans, one of the priorities of the new government, and at the same time the process of European integration and the economic growth of the countries in the region.

These are the objectives of the national conference 'Italy and the Western Balkans: growth and integration', an initiative of the Farnesina and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, which will be held tomorrow in Trieste.

Tajani himself will open the proceedings, supported by the undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Sandra Savino.

Also on the agenda is a video greeting from the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and a speech by the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi.

Representatives of the most important associations in the Italian manufacturing world are expected at the conference, as well as companies and institutions such as Ice, Sace, Simest, Finest, Bei, Berse and others.

To enrich the conference program, various panels dedicated to the objectives of the Italy-Western Balkans partnership are included, with the participation of the Italian ambassadors in the region, to the tools available to the private sector and for the internationalization of companies and to international tools in support of economic growth.

There will also be a presentation of the 'Go!

2025Nova Gorica and Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025', one of the most important cross-border initiatives on the axis between Italy and Slovenia, also from a symbolic point of view.

The national conference signals Italy's renewed commitment to the Balkans still outside the EU, not only in terms of European integration but also in terms of the Italian economic presence in the area, with the economic development of the Balkans considered key to stability and security.
