Many of you probably remember the camping trips you took at summer camps, including as children or teenagers, and the connection that was created on these trips to the land, the environment and the country.

The Field and Forest Centers of the Kimat Israel Foundation, which began operating in the mid-seventies of the last century as "summer camps" for youth movements, today offer everyone tours, educational programs and diverse and experiential activities, emphasizing national values, environment and sustainability in their special style.

The field centers are content centers for spreading the values and spirit of KKL-Junk and a home for educational activities for the frameworks of formal and informal education, pre-military preparatory schools, etc. The accommodation and accommodation in them is a complementary product to the educational activity that is developed and carried out in the education and community division, in addition, it is possible to host private clients for professional seminars and conferences. , and even private families for weekends.

How It Works?

"The field centers are actually a home for educational activities for various educational institutions. We in the KKL-Junk education division develop activities and bring them to implementation in the field.

All activities are based on KKL-Junk's values - love of the land, Zionism, preservation of nature, sustainability and more," explains Simon Elbaz, Director of the Field Centers and Visitors Division in the KKL-Junk Education Division.

Today, there are five field centers in Israel that are under the responsibility of KKK's Education and Community Division. and include Yaer Lavi near Tiberias, Tzipori, Shoni, Nes-Harim and Yatir.

In addition to them there are two visitor centers - Ilanot and Beit Eshel.

The campers who come to the activities can be there for one day of activity from morning to afternoon in nature, for example, and others will come to stay for the night or in the case of summer camps of youth movements for a few nights.

"The accommodation at the centers is actually a complementary educational activity to the activity we are developing. We combine it with charitable work, such as work in the forest or in archaeology, in coordination with the group's representatives," explains Simon.

"During the year we host tens of thousands of students from all over the country, mainly from the middle and high schools. But in events such as Tu Bashvet, for example, which is coming up, we also do activities for kindergartens and elementary schools, who come to us to the planting areas or we come to them to do Tu Beshevat series.

Cabins, tents and outdoor accommodation

"We have several types of accommodation: forest cabins, tents, Avraham tents and outdoor accommodation in a ranger tent. The cabins are of course more organized and include everything you need, but also for those who sleep outside - we provide the field kitchen, toilets, and even beds and mattresses".

You should also know that on weekends and by prior arrangement, the place is also intended for families and then we become a hospitality center.

Simon emphasizes that "one of the conditions for any group that comes to us at the center of the field, and it doesn't matter if it's a family or a group, is to receive a KKL-Junk window, which is actually a content unit that we developed with us that adapts itself to the nature of the group.

The accommodation costs a few hundred shekels per cabin, but it is an education center and not a hostel as mentioned.

The place is also suitable for workers' committees, training courses for government and business bodies, and more.

Here are the five field centers scattered throughout the country:

Yatir Field

Center The Yatir Field Center is located on the slopes of the Judean Mountains between Beer Sheva and Arad - "between the mountain and the desert."

The field center was established and began operating in November 2016, and since then over two hundred thousand campers, travelers, from all kinds of sectors and denominations from all over the country have passed through its gates.

The groups that come for hospitality and activity travel on a variety of routes in the Judean and Negev deserts.

The uniqueness is in the special atmosphere created by the view of the desert that can be seen from the center of the field and the silence that is not disturbed even by the voices of the campers enjoying it.

Nes Harim Field and Forest Center

Nes Harim located in the spectacular landscape of the Judean Lowlands is surrounded by sloping ridges and flowering forests and is surrounded by unique hiking trails and stream channels (Nahal Katlev, Nahal Maara, Hirab Itab, Mount Yala and more) that allow a short and close exit from the center of the field.

The fenced and secure center, covers an area of about 140 dunams and is located at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level, offers the entire population 48 new and renovated cabins that also include accessible cabins, an accessible educational complex that includes huge thinking games, educational activities, a training center with 4 classrooms and a hall Conferences that include media and adaptability for accessibility, 2 outdoor areas and field kitchens for camping and green public spaces that include lawns, sitting areas and accessible paths in the heart of the forest.

Gili Maimon, director of the Nes Harim Field and Forest Center - which is the largest of the five centers and includes 48 cabins, some of which are accessible and suitable for families and children, says that "the educational complex on site includes an area for large thinking games, an educational greenhouse with field crops and hydroponic crops, which the children accompany from the moment The planting to the salad, and another complex of an accessible sensory trail in nature, through which you learn about all the senses."

Another amazing thing they did here about a year ago is hosting refugees from Ukraine.

"At the beginning of March 2022, KKL-Junk decided to host 130 refugees from Ukraine, 84 of them children from a welfare boarding school.

And within 48 hours we were prepared to receive the families and children," says Gili. "For six months they were here with us and received a warm home, classes, educational activities, meals and more.

A good relationship was formed between us and in the nearest tribe they will even come to plant their first tree here in the center."

Field center and bird forest

The Sde and Year Center is located in the Lower Galilee, in the heart of Year Tsipri, near Moshav Tsipri.

The center was established in the early 1950s as a KKL-Junk nursery, where young trees were nurtured and grown, which were later planted in the Tzipori and Kiryat Ata forests.

Near the center are a variety of hiking trails, nature and heritage sites, including Tzipori National Park and Tzipori Springs, Their names derive from the days of Nahal Zipori. This is one of the most important and significant heritage centers for the Jewish people. In the city of Zipori, Rabbi Yehuda the Hanasi lived during the Mishna period and it was there that he compiled and signed the Mishnah.

As part of KKL-Junk's policy, the center has made it a goal to reduce waste and sort it with the help of cooperation and learning from the guests. The center also offers forest navigation and the construction of workshop facilities. At the guests' disposal in the center of the field are diverse accommodation options of cabins and tents as well as a sports field and a large lawn, a synagogue, An air-conditioned dining room with closed and open classrooms, as well as a training service for activities inside the field center and trips and tours outside it.
