Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on the United States and Western countries to realize that the colonial approach and the imposition of trusteeship have ended, pointing out that the war between the West and Russia has become almost real and is no longer a hybrid.
Lavrov said during a press conference today with his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor, in Pretoria: “When we talk about what is happening in Ukraine, we are talking about the fact that this war is no longer a hybrid war, but almost a real war, for which the West has been preparing for a long time against Russia in an attempt to destroy all Something Russian from language to culture.
Lavrov reaffirmed his country's position adhering to a peaceful solution to any conflict, indicating that Russia is not against mediation regarding the situation in Ukraine, except that the Kyiv authorities were the ones who stalled the negotiations that were launched last spring under Western pressure because they are not interested in a peaceful solution, pointing to the statements of the leaders of Western countries. In this context, through which they affirm their rejection of negotiations, their insistence on a military solution, and their desire to destroy Russia.
In a related context, the Russian Foreign Minister indicated that only Western countries bear responsibility for the lack of wheat and fertilizer supplies in global markets, as the efforts of the United Nations did not help in lifting restrictions on the export of Russian grain and food to global markets.
Lavrov pointed out that Russia proposed supplying poor countries with 280,000 tons of fertilizers for free, but it was able to transport only 20,000 tons of this amount, due to Western restrictions.
Regarding intimidating African countries from relations with Russia, Lavrov considered that Washington not only intimidates African countries, but also countries in Asia and Latin America, as they constantly declare that those who cooperate with Russia “will regret it,” as they threaten large countries with that.
On the other hand, Lavrov pointed out that the exercises between Russia, China and South Africa are transparent, and all information about them has been provided, adding that Russia has provided the partners in China and South Africa with the necessary information in this regard.
On relations between Russia and South Africa, Lavrov said that Russia and South Africa are working to establish trade mechanisms that do not depend on Western facilities.
It is noteworthy that Lavrov affirmed, during a meeting with Pandor earlier today, Russia's openness to dialogue and its support for resolving all conflicts peacefully and through dialogue, pointing out that Western countries stand behind most conflicts in the world.
