From the moment of its establishment, the government behaves in a predatory manner towards the liberal and secular public who discovers that none of the ministers represent them. Liberals and secularists must not agree to a social contract in which they pay taxes and send their children to the army, and the state in return alienates them and damages their values. It's time to stop being nice

The steps taken by the new government since its establishment show that it launched a predatory attack against the liberal public in Israel.

It seems that for many of the government ministers the task in the first 100 days in office is not how to improve, build and serve the citizens of the country, but how to close, cancel, censor and harass a large part of Israeli society.

The liberal public in Israel, and especially the secular part of it, discovers with full force that there is no one in this government who represents them or even considers their needs or interests.

The message he receives from the government is - what is ours is ours and what is yours is also ours.

It is not surprising that this attack comes from ultra-Orthodox, ultra-Orthodox, and Christian ministers. It was to be expected. What is surprising is the fact that it also comes from the Likud party, which in the past defined itself as liberal and which also represents a large secular and traditional public. Likud ministers and Knesset members who are secular or present themselves as liberal traditionalists Collaborate with the attack. Instead of serving their traditional and secular voters, they also serve the ultra-Orthodox and ultra-Orthodox.

You can stop being nice.

For example, Education Minister Yoav Kish stated that the main mission of his office is to significantly increase the budgets of the private ultra-Orthodox education system, which does not teach core studies.

The money will come from the budgets of the liberal and secular local authorities.

Culture Minister Miki Zohar, who began his term by declaring that he was a "liberal", proved that this was a fraud.

Within a few weeks, Zohar surpassed one of his predecessors in the position, Miri Regev, and announced that he would oblige artists and creators to sign trust documents in order to receive funding from the Ministry of Culture.

The peak came last night when Zohar added to his three C's - money, power and honor, also a fourth C - religious coercion.

The Minister of Culture decided to freeze the "Israeli Shabbat" initiative that subsidized museums and heritage sites so that they would allow the public free entry on Shabbat.

"Discrimination against Shabbat keepers," Zohar defined it in a statement he published.

George Orwell couldn't have put it better.

Boaz Bismut, a former journalist, who lives in Tel Aviv and informs the Nablus and the Arabs that he is a liberal leading an attack on the free press with the bill that will prevent the publication of tapes and prevent the exposure of wrongdoings by the authorities in the country or by mere crooks who harm the weak among them.

Above them all is Benjamin Netanyahu - a secular politician who in interviews with the American media even defined himself as a liberal.

Netanyahu signed coalition agreements that transfer budgets of billions to various religious coercion projects and place Torah study in a yeshiva as equivalent in value to three years of military service.

The legal coup that Netanyahu is leading is of course a high point in the attack on the liberal-secular public.

The liberal-secular public under attack is the most contributing and productive public in Israel.

The data of the Central Bureau of Statistics show that he pays most of the taxes in Israel, the data of the IDF's personnel department show that he fills the ranks of combat units, patrols, squadrons and cruisers, and the mass demonstrations of the last few weeks show that he is not a negligible minority that can be ignored.

The liberals and secularists in Israel who in the past suppressed and complained about the attacks on them by the government are waking up in the last few weeks and starting to oppose.

The fierce protest against the attempts to harm the LGBT community, the awakening of the business sector and the hi-techists against the legal coup and of course the demonstrations show that liberals and secularists are tired of being trampled on, humiliated and harassed for no reason and without injustice.

The secular liberal opposition to the government's attacks is the order of the hour. A sharp public outcry caused Netanyahu to reverse the decision of Culture Minister Zohar regarding the financing of the "Israeli Shabbat" project. As long as the attacks by government officials do not stop and even intensify, they will oblige the liberal and secular public to intensify their opposition. Liberals and seculars must not agree to a social contract in which they finance the state through Paying taxes and sending their children to the army, and the state in return alienates them, damages their values and alienates them.

And yes, the liberal and secular public is also allowed to be less nice and accommodating when faced with such an attack on their way of life.

The protest should be non-violent and within the law, but determined and firm.
