Metropolitan RER, low-emissions zone, development of the ring road, so many mobility issues that concern the inhabitants of Bordeaux as much as those of the surrounding municipalities, and that the deputy Thomas Cazenave (Renaissance) would like to see managed at the departmental level by a single organization: “
Gironde Mobilités
”.
The deputy, who is also an opposition municipal councilor in Bordeaux, pleads this Monday "
for a new metropolitan impetus
" in the field of transport, having "
the conviction that we are at the end of a cycle
".
Recalling the words of the president of the metropolis, Alain Anziani, admitting in 2020 "
a collective failure
" on the part "
of all the public actors, for years, in terms of mobility
", the elected representative considers that it will be necessary "
probably challenge the borders that exist today
" to think about the transport of tomorrow.

Taking the example of what is done around Paris with Île-de-France Mobilités, Thomas Cazenave wants to set up an establishment of the same type, which "
brings together our skills and our resources
", and develops them "
to department level
”.
Because "
we will have to change scale
", insists the elected Bordeaux opposition.
The ZFE "overflows into the territory"
When questioned, Bordeaux Métropole recalls, however, that "
Gironde mobilities
" has already existed at the regional level since 2018, with Nouvelle-Aquitaine Mobilités, the regional intermodal joint union.
This organization, bringing together the communities and public transport networks of the region, aims to "
coordinate, facilitate and shape sustainable mobility
" in the territory.
The development of intermodality being a regional competence.
However, to justify his "
Gironde mobility approach
", Thomas Cazenave also takes the example of the future low-emissions zone (ZFE), "
a subject that extends beyond the territory
", but whose delimitation is that of the intra- bypass.
The deputy underlines that the owners of the most polluting vehicles - first concerned by the future traffic ban - are mainly located outside the metropolis, "
in the Médoc, Blayais, South Gironde
".

The Climate Law of 2021, which obliges agglomerations of more than 150,000 inhabitants to establish a ZFE by the end of 2024, however provides that the establishment of this zone is done at the level of municipalities or public establishments for inter-municipal cooperation. (EPCI).
In this case, it is Bordeaux Métropole, which only applies the measure voted by parliament.
