The weekend did not resolve the disagreement.
Four days after the second round of the PS Congress, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol still refuses to recognize the victory of outgoing first secretary Olivier Faure, re-elected head of the party.
The mayor of Rouen assures that the
"assessment commission"
supposed to verify the results was not carried out until the end on Sunday.
In an attempt to get out of the crisis, the two adversaries therefore met on Monday afternoon at the headquarters of the Socialist Party, in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne).
Also present around the table: Hélène Geoffroy, the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), who came third in the first round.
"Chicayas"
After more than two hours locked in the office of the first secretary, the three socialists appeared together in front of the cameras.
“We discuss, everyone was able to put forward their point of view”
, explained Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol.
"Give us time to find and make the right decisions
," continued Olivier Faure.
Outside, the mayor of Rouen then took over.
"We're not saying we won.
We say that the conditions of the ballot were bad, as all the French saw
it, ”he slipped.
Operating there a discreet change of tone, while “NMR” claimed victory so far.
“Either we continue on chicayas, or we come out on top. How do you want to be credible for the rally, if you can't even bring the socialists together?
, questioned the Norman.
“Me, I said that at the time of blocking where we are, the best solution, it is to return in front of the militants and to vote”
, for its part quite simply proposed Hélène Geoffroy.
The latter believes that the PS has
“today no recognized first secretary”

“(The) result was not recorded under indisputable conditions”

Olivier Faure spoke again a few minutes later.
The outgoing said that his opponents had offered him a
"directory"
with four first secretaries.
Unacceptable for the leader of the Socialists who, beyond the second round, claims to have come well ahead in the first, during the vote on the orientation texts, with 49.15% of the vote, against 30.51% for Nicolas Mayer -Rossignol and 20.34% for Hélène Geoffroy.
“So it seems difficult to me to put everyone on the same step of the podium”
, he imagined.
Olivier Faure, on the other hand, proposed to the mayor of Rouen to
“coordinate the strategy of the campaign for the European elections (of 2024)”
, and even to take the head of the list.
The latter refused, and made it known on Twitter:
“I am not bought off with positions.
I have made proposals - to carry the renewal of the Socialist Party and bring together all socialists - which, I hope, will be quickly heard.
Proof that there is still a long way to go.
This first unsuccessful meeting must therefore lead to a second one

before the Marseille congress which will take place this weekend.
