The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today the expulsion of the Estonian ambassador and the downgrading of the diplomatic rank to Chargé d'Affaires, in response to the hostile actions of the Estonian authorities towards Russia.

Russia Today website quoted the ministry as saying in a statement today: “The Estonian ambassador, M. Leder, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry headquarters and handed over a strong protest against the actions of the Estonian authorities,” explaining that “he was informed that he had to leave Russia until the 7th of next February.”

The statement indicated that the level of relations between the two countries had been reduced to the level of charge d’affaires, pointing out that “the leadership of Estonia in recent years has deliberately destroyed relations with Russia in various fields, and it is working to spread hatred for Russia and sow hostility towards our country, including in political circles.” to the state.”

And Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed on the 11th of this month that Estonia's decision to reduce the number of diplomats and technical workers in the Russian embassy will not go unanswered.
