The Director General of the Russian Sevmash Ship Company, Mikhail Budnichenko, announced the continuation of the modernization and testing of the Russian Admiral Nakhimov cruiser, based on a 3D computer model.
The Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper quoted Budnichenko as saying: “The repair and modernization work is being carried out according to a schedule approved by the Russian Ministry of Defense, and after preparing the ship’s rooms, the cruiser will begin testing.”
In turn, a spokesman for the company explained that the ship's modernization currently affects the electricity and fuel cycles, pointing to the repair of the ship's systems and equipment last year in a process in which 150 other companies participated.
The upgraded cruiser will be equipped with supersonic “Zircon” missiles, as well as “Caliber” cruise missiles and “Onyx” anti-ship missiles, to become the most powerful cruiser in the world.
It is noteworthy that the Admiral Nakhimov cruiser of project 11442M has a displacement of 23,700 tons, a length of 230 meters, a width of 25 meters, and the ship can remain at sea for 60 days.
