The cold settles in France this week.
The cause ?
“A vast anticyclone which extends from the Azores to Scandinavia while a low pressure system plunges from the Baltic countries to the Mediterranean basin”
, warns the Weather Channel *.
In this context, the north-easterly, continental wind will bring low temperatures, 2 to 3°C below the average for the season.
Severe frosts are to be expected as well as a possible snowfall in certain plain regions.
Snow in the Center and Southwest
Temperatures are expected to be around -5 to -1°C in the morning and the afternoons will be particularly cool from the northeast to the southwest.
However, the cold wave thresholds should not be reached even if the maximum will be low (between 2 and 5°C from Strasbourg to Toulouse and Lyon).
In the West, highs are expected around 4 to 8°C near the Mediterranean.
If the cold wave thresholds will not be reached, the mercury will however be 2 to 3°C below seasonal norms, on average.
The weather will be rather dry and gray at the beginning of the week but new snowfalls are expected at the end of the week.
"A new disturbance will come down from the British Isles from the night of Wednesday to Thursday, crossing our country towards the south-west during the day of Thursday"
, predicts the Weather Channel.
Snow is expected over the central regions and the Southwest.

The Weather Channel is also expecting new snow showers overnight from Thursday to Friday, still from North-East to South-West.
Traffic conditions could thus be tricky in the Centre, Limousin and the Midi-Pyrénées region on Friday morning.
