“We got dizzy when we found ourselves on the sets”: behind the scenes of the filming of the 20th anniversary of Caméra Café

2023-01-24T06:14:18.719Z

WE WERE THERE - Bruno Solo and Yvan Le Bolloc'h co-directed a single event for M6. The two actors had found in March 2022, not without emotion, their former accomplices in the mythical decorations of the short program which was broadcast on the channel from 2001 to the end of 2004.

Quiet please!

Come on, it's going

."

Orange polo shirt buttoned up to the neck, striped waistcoat and glasses on his nose, Bruno Solo could not hold still last March.

With Yvan Le Bolloc'h - suit, pink shirt and red tie - he remembered their placements in the stage to play.

Fifteen years after the shutdown of "Caméra Café", broadcast on M6, the incomparable duo found themselves on the sets of the short program - identically redone in a studio in Brussels - for the filming of a prime time show celebrating its 20 years.

All the actors present except one

It includes all the main and secondary characters (13 people).

Only the psychologist is, this time, embodied by Lucien Jean-Baptiste (

First star

and "Munch") came in the blink of an eye since he was present in the first season of the series.

Co-creator Alain Kappauf as well as producers Jean-Yves Robin and Marc Stanimirovic have also returned.

This unit, broadcast this Tuesday, January 24, was written by historical authors including Fred Le Bolloc'h, (Yvan's brother).

We find Hervé and Jean-Claude there in 2019, when the latter has just been fired.

He has the day to pack up all his things and leave the company.

Emptying objects, photos and files from the drawers is an opportunity for the two friends to recall memories of the last twenty years and to dive back into them through flashbacks (all unpublished and all shot in front of the famous coffee machine).

Over the course of the fiction, the duo and their colleagues thus speak as much of the presidential elections as of the attacks, of the yellow vests, of the climate crisis or of #Metoo.

On the set that day, Hervé helped Jean-Claude move his things, a bust of Johnny Hallyday in his arms.

As often in comedy, every detail counts.

Bruno Solo and Yvan Le Bolloc'h were therefore attentive to everything, each in their own way:

“Yvan is the man of flashes

, says the first.

He always has ideas.

Camera Café

is his own.

My thing is staging and directing actors.

I couldn't work without him, I would be an orphan…”

.

However, Bruno had to play solo before filming.

Yvan, operated on the hip fifteen days before the first clapperboard, was still in a lot of pain during the first takes.

“I was limping and I couldn't do some of the scouting...,

explains the Breton actor.

I had to go on an anti-inflammatory

.

The first day, I was under pressure.

I am lucky to have Bruno and that we are a duo

.

To last, he was helped by a physiotherapist and regularly practiced swimming.

Returning to the sets fifteen years after leaving them was not without emotion for him:

"

Camera Café

is an adventure that has had a major impact on our lives.

With Bruno, we have such a bond that I usually say that we play by smell.

He can play behind my back, I feel it and vice versa.

It's quite disturbing

. "

Yvan Le Bolloc'h worked with his family on this unit.

His son Jordi, screenwriter and actor, participated in writing the script and plays in it while his younger brother, a student in film school, was third assistant director.

Waly Dia embodies a new character

On set, the adjustments continued.

"

You have to place yourself there

" reminded Bruno Solo to Yvan Le Bolloc'h.

Beside them, Waly Dia watched them.

The comedian, who grew up with the series, embodies a new character: the youngster of the box climbing the ladder year after year.

“I watched

Camera Café

on my way home from class.

It's really cult... I play the replacement for Jean-Claude who arrived as an intern in 2014 and ended up as sales director.

It's a vicious ... "

, he explains.

Bruno Solo stalled the scene with him too:

“I need to lean on your gaze.

This moment is delicate so we do not rush.

Go action!”

.

After the boxing, everyone met in a small room adjacent to the set to watch the rendering.

"There we have a good mechanics, it works well"

.

Ultra-attentive and perfectionist, Bruno Solo left nothing to chance: “

As I play and I direct, I am a ball of concentration.

I have an all-consuming passion for my work as an author, actor and director.

I've been filming for three weeks and I don't feel tired at all, I'm in a daze

.

A moving reunion

During the next scene, the actor needed his glasses and was looking for them desperately.

“Usually we are better organized than that…”

, slipped Yvan Le Bolloc'h mischievously.

In the dressing rooms, the other actors were in preparation.

Gathered in the make-up and hairdressing room, they did not hide their pleasure in meeting after having shot the 700 episodes of the short program together.

"We felt a lot of emotion"

, confided in chorus Shirley Bousquet (Nancy) and Gérard Chaillou (Jean-Guy).

"Arriving on the set it gave us a spatiotemporal shock

," said Armelle (Maeva), smiling and hair curlers on her head.

"We felt a cocktail of adrenaline, fear and joy"

, continued Jeanne Savary (Jeanne).

But, despite the years that have passed, everyone had returned to their character with ease:

“As soon as we put on our costumes and read our texts, we very quickly found our characters, like a skin in which we fit.

It was nice to see that we still had our reflexes

,” noted Sylvie Loeillet (Carole).

Bruno Solo even shed a tear.

“We had a moment of vertigo when we all found ourselves together on the sets.

Camera coffee

is everything in our life, it allowed us to work on a regular basis but it is above all what we will leave when we are old

, ”concludes the actor.
