Steven Spielberg's The Fabelman

had a hard time catching on with audiences, but the director's autobiographical coming-of-age story will earn Spielberg his 20th Oscar nomination and eighth for Best Director.

John Williams, his lifelong songwriter, has extended his record for Oscar nominations for a living person.

With another Best Score nomination, Williams would earn his 53rd nomination, trailing only Walt Disney's 59.
