after the professional update mechanism for eggs comes into effect, the price of eggs for the consumer is expected to jump by an average of 15.9% on February 1.
Accordingly, the price of a package of 12 eggs (in large size) for the consumer will increase by NIS 1.92.
The update of the price of eggs embodies within it the increase in the prices of kernels in the world, and the increase in the prices of the mixtures used to raise laying hens.
The price of eggs was last updated last July, also as part of the agreement with the poultry industry, and before that, in January 2019.
The price update was carried out this time through the professional update mechanism, without the need for the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture to sign the price update order.
According to the new mechanism, the rate of change in the price of eggs will be examined every quarter and the price will be updated according to the input indices and formulas defined in the decree every six months.
The change in the mechanism for updating prices follows the recommendation of the Joint Price Committee to the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance, and is part of the agreements with the laying breeders signed last June, the main of which is reforming the laying industry.
Below are the new egg prices (the price in new shekels in closed retail packages of 12 eggs):
73 grams and above (extra large): old price - 13.10.
New price - 15.19.
Between 63 and 73 grams (large) old price 12.05 new 13.97.
Between 53 grams and 63 grams (medium) old price - 11.15.
New price - 12.89.
