Monday evening, shortly before 11 p.m., firefighters from the Alpes-Maritimes departmental fire and rescue operational center (SDIS 06) were alerted to suspected carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning in a home in Vence, near Nice, confirm the firefighters to
Figaro
on Tuesday morning.
Arrived on the spot, chemin Saint-Donat, the emergency services took care of two adults and two teenagers, all four unconscious.
Very quickly, the victims were evacuated from the accommodation so that they could be given first aid for resuscitation and oxygenation.
At the same time, another team of firefighters detected a high concentration of carbon monoxide in the home.
The boiler and ventilation were immediately shut down.
After these actions, the gas reading turned out to be negative.

The four victims, members of the same family, were all transported to the Pasteur hospital center in Nice, where they were placed in a hyperbaric chamber to increase their oxygenation.
According to the latest information provided, no vital prognosis has been made.
We do not know at this stage the causes of the incident even if everything suggests that a failure of the boiler could be the cause.
According to the Ministry of Health, this toxic gas is responsible for a hundred deaths in France each year.
