American researchers have invented a new treatment technique to break up kidney stones without pain, based on the release of ultrasound waves.

The researchers explained in a study published in the American Journal of Urology that the new technique relies on the release of ultrasound waves, by shining them on the skin so that its effect goes into the kidneys to solve the problem of stones in two ways, either by making an effect to change the position of the stone until it moves in preparation for its disposal. Or by breaking up the stone into small parts that can come out of the urinary tract, pointing out that this technique differs from the popular method known as fragmentation of temporal stones, because it causes almost no pain.

The researcher in emergency medicine at the University of Washington Kennedy Hall said: The new treatment method is almost painless, and the patient can be subjected to this technique while he is in a state of full alertness without giving him any anesthesia, which means an important development in the treatment of kidney diseases.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends drinking enough water and following a healthy diet, in order to prevent, as much as possible, the formation of kidney stones.
