The lawyer for Mike Pence, former vice president of Donald Trump, has revealed the discovery last week of official documents marked as classified at the politician's residence in Indiana.
"They appear to be a small number of classified-marked documents that were inadvertently packed and transported to the home of the former vice president at the end of the last Administration," the attorney, Greg Jacob, told the National Archives in a letter last week. and known this Tuesday.

Jacob assured that "Pence was unaware of the existence of confidential or classified documents at his residence" and that he "understands the great importance of protecting confidential and classified information and is ready and willing to cooperate fully with the National Archives and any appropriate investigation."

A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment Tuesday on the finding, and a lawyer for Pence did not respond to an email sent by The Associated Press news agency.
Pence told The Associated Press in August that he did not take any classified information with him when he left office.
When asked directly if he had withheld any classified information upon leaving office, he said: "Not that I know of."
