Five people have been indicted in Bordeaux as part of the dismantling of drug trafficking between France and Spain, which led to the seizure of 177 kilos of cannabis, the gendarmerie announced on Tuesday January 24.

On January 19, on the occasion of an importation of narcotics by road, eight suspects were arrested in the two countries during an operation which mobilized a hundred French and Spanish investigators.
At the end of their police custody, five were indicted, three of whom were placed in pre-trial detention, one under judicial control and the last was imprisoned pending a deferred debate on his detention.
Two European arrest warrants must soon be executed, added the same source.

Investigators also seized 1.5 kg of cocaine, 400 grams of ecstasy-type tablets, four vehicles, 37,000 euros in cash and a weapon during searches.
Franco-Spanish collaboration
The case began in 2021 with a report from the Spanish authorities concerning individuals from Pau, already known unfavorably by the gendarmerie services.
Investigations have confirmed the existence of cannabis resin trafficking between the south of Spain and several regions in France.
A judicial investigation was opened to the Jirs de Bordeaux, which entrusted the investigation to the gendarmes of the research section of Pau, supported by the research brigade of Oloron-Sainte-Marie and the interministerial research group of Bordeaux, in collaboration with the Spanish police.
