The Egyptian archaeological mission was able to uncover a complete residential city from the Roman era in the east of Luxor.

Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt, said: The discovered residential city is an extension of the ancient city of Thebes, pointing out that during the archaeological excavations, the mission found a number of residential buildings, two bath towers from the second and third centuries AD, and a number of workshops for the manufacture and smelting of metals. Inside it were a number of utensils, water bottles, flasks, pottery sliders, grinding tools, and Roman coins of copper and bronze.

The mission had earlier found a number of amphorae and saddlebags from the Byzantine era, in addition to a group of Roman bronze coins, part of a wall from the Roman era, an old warehouse, and a number of other archaeological icons dating back to different historical eras.
