With the red fire danger warning in effect, several wildfires broke out in the North District of the New Territories tonight (24th).
Among them, at around 7:00 p.m., a number of citizens reported that a mountain fire broke out in the area near Jigongling in Lam Tsuen Country Park.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire. The initial length of the fire line was 80 meters. Fortunately, the area where the fire started was far away from residential buildings. No one was injured and no evacuation was required.
In addition, around 11:00 p.m., mountain fires also occurred in Xiangyuanwei and Wayaoxia areas. Among them, the area of Wayaoxia mountain fire was about 30 meters by 30 meters, and it was close to a warehouse.
Until nearly 6:00 a.m. on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year (25th), the mountain fire in the Jigongling area had not been extinguished, and there were still two fire lines about 40 meters and 20 meters long.
Firefighters are still struggling to save lives.
