From Paris to Rouen (Seine-Maritime), the river still carries tons of rubbish that wash up in its dead arms or on its locks.

A few weeks ago, alerted by environmental activists, Voies navigables de France (VNF) thus wiped off the map a veritable "garbage cemetery" by removing twenty tonnes of garbage at Guernes, just opposite of Mantes-la-Jolie.
