Among the items recovered were a marble head of Athens valued at $3 million, a fresco stolen from Herculaneum, an ancient Roman city near Pompeii and a ceramic cup typical of Greek art.

According to the latest data, during the past year, 74,748 archaeological and excavation assets were recovered, and 1,227 counterfeit works were confiscated.
