Culture Minister Miki Zohar commented today (Tuesday) on the publications, according to which Legal Adviser to the Government Gali Beharev Miara held discussions on the removal of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Nazareth.

"It will be the most illegal and unconstitutional thing," the minister said on the "Seven Nine" show with Anat Davidov and Gideon Oko on 103FM.

"There is a clear law here that allows Netanyahu to be prime minister, all claims that it will affect his trial are unfounded. What is the difference between Netanyahu's trial and the legal reform we need and want to do?"

Zohar also referred to the storm he caused, following his intention to cancel the funding for the "Israeli Sabbath" project.

In an interview, he denied these things, and claimed: "At no point did I stop the funding, and I still stand by my opinion that the ministry will not be the one to initiate the events on Shabbat. In the State of Israel 2023, when the media wants to burn something in the headlines, whether it is true or not, this is what is burned ".

Zohar even addressed the calls to boycott the performances of his singer son, Eliav Zohar, because of the political developments, and said that "those who call for this should do some soul-searching."

Yesterday, Netanyahu ordered Zohar to withdraw its intention to cancel the funding of the "Israeli Shabbat" project.

According to a statement from Netanyahu's office, the two agreed that all activities taking place on Shabbat by the various entities budgeted by the ministry will continue as usual.

Zohar, according to the announcement, clarified that he wants the initiative for the activities to come from the funded entities and not from the ministry, without any harm to the funding itself and the content of the activity.

In a separate announcement, Zohar said that "unlike the false reports, and although a clear announcement was issued by the Prime Minister and by me, I was not asked by him to change anything because I did not change anything regarding the continuation of the activity in question."

According to him, "In the conversation with the Prime Minister, it was clarified exactly what I said yesterday and this morning: the supported entities will continue to receive funding from the ministry and will operate as they have until today in accordance with the status quo. The only change is that the ministry will not initiate activity on Shabbat but will continue to finance it with the initiating entities. I have no intention Interfere in content except, of course, content that harms IDF soldiers, the State of Israel and its symbols."
