Milagros Torres (22) and Darío Chamorro (26) were arrested accused of the murder of the two-year-old baby, who arrived lifeless at the Mariano Acosta hospital last Thursday.

Milena was two years old and arrived lifeless at the Mariano Acosta hospital on Thursday of last week.

The autopsy determined that she died as a result of a series of blows that caused serious injuries.

For her crime, they arrested her mother, Milagros Ester Torres (22) and her partner, Eduardo Daniel Chamorro (26).

The girl's mother had settled in the José Ingenieros room at 1200, in Mariano Acosta, a vulnerable neighborhood in Merlo, west of the Buenos Aires suburbs, about three months ago.

She went after wandering around the house of different friends and acquaintances, and spending some time on the streets.

Milagros Torres had two children, Milena and a second baby, from different fathers.

Against the two he made complaints of gender violence and had cases in two family courts.

He escaped from the house of the father of his second son right after denouncing him for threats.

He

had previously gone through a similar process against Milena's father, who had an approach restriction and a series of presentations in a family court in Morón.

Judicial sources explained to

Clarín

that, during the time that Milagros Torres was wandering without a fixed address, the girl was handed over to her parent for her custody.

And that the baby spent time with her grandfather and accompanied her to different homes.

The situation of vulnerability was serious and the lack of accompaniment was not new for these children.

When she became a partner with Darío Chamorro, Milagros settled in a small building on José Ingenieros street at 1200. That is why there were no statements that could refer to her, because the neighbors hardly knew her.

Ahead, the father of his partner lived with one of his brothers, 18 years old, but since the events occurred they have not returned home.

In the back, she shared an environment with Dario, Milena, her one-year-old baby and his son, who is four.

The two were handed over to foster families for their custody until the procedural situation and the socio-environmental studies are resolved.

On Wednesday of last week, according to what the neighbors told the Police, the man arrived at the home and found her crying.

When they saw the state of the girl, who later found out she had been dead for several hours, she asked a neighbor for help and they rushed her to the hospital.

When they arrived there was nothing to do.

The girl was dead.

The story had been heartbreaking: the mother said that the girl was sleeping with her four-year-old brother when she fell out of bed and received a strong blow to the head.

"She told that she later ate rice with liver that her mother had cooked for her and that they went to sleep. They all shared the same bed," sources in the case detailed.

When she saw that she did not react, she decided to take her to the hospital.

The truth is that it was the autopsy that confirmed the worst scenario: the girl had a "fissure in the tibia that occurred in the last 30 days"

without being able to specify the data further.

"Blows and bruises of 6 days, 72 hours, 48 hours and 24 hours" prior to death.

The coroner determined that "he died as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest due to polytrauma" and the prosecutor Andrea Suárez Corripio, from UFI No. 8 in Morón, requested the arrest and search of the house.

Chamorro was taken from his home and Milagros from the funeral home where he was arranging to say goodbye to his daughter.

From there they took her into custody.

Both refused to testify and are charged with aggravated murder.

The biological father of the deceased girl was "in shock" and has not yet been able to testify in the case about the circumstances prior to death.

As indicated to

Clarín

, in the file there is no evidence of testimonies from neighbors who have declared situations of previous violence.

Neither are complaints related to child abuse.

"Yes, a neighbor reported that when Chamorro arrived on Thursday afternoon, he yelled 'how did you not take her to the doctor' and that the woman was crying. But the injuries were from the night before and when the girl arrived at the hospital she had been several hours dead. The victim agonized for several hours and no one offered him any kind of assistance," they said.
