Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray said the suspect is on the run and poses "a danger to the community." There could be a fourth victim.

(CNN) --

At least three people were killed in a nighttime shooting in Yakima, Washington, according to Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray.

Murray said the shooting suspect is on the run.

“This is a dangerous person and he is random, so there is a danger to the community,” Murray said.

"We don't have a motive and we don't know why (she did it)."

While speaking to the media on Tuesday, Murray said that at approximately 3:30 a.m. local time, a suspect walked into a Circle K on Nob Hill Blvrd and began shooting.

"When the cops arrived, they found three people dead at the Circle K store and quickly realized there was a second shooting scene across the street at (the store) ampm," Murray said.

On ampm, Murray said the suspect "fired at a vehicle (subject from vehicle can be seen moving to passenger seat), and then the assailant stole the car."

Murray said the person who was abducted could be a fourth victim, but his status is unknown.

“It seems to be a random situation,” Murray said.

"There was no apparent conflict between the parties - the man just walked in and started shooting."

The location of the suspect is unknown, Murray said, but authorities are looking for a "gray or silver Chrysler sedan."

The Yakima Police Department is covering an area along West Birchfield Road "related to the early morning homicides."

In a Facebook post, the agency said the "suspected homicide suspect is Jarid Haddock, a 21-year-old Yakima County resident."

Authorities urged: “If you see him, call 911 immediately, stay away.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous."

"Solid Tracks"

Speaking to CNN on Tuesday, Murray added that the suspect entered the ARCO/ampm gas station and "tried to enter the lobby" but discovered that the doors were locked.

“Then he walked across the street to Circle K,” Murray said.

"As he was walking into the store, he pulled out his gun and shot two people who were getting their food."

Murray said both are deceased.

The suspect then left the store and shot another person, who also died.

"We are working to get leads and now we have strong leads," Murray told CNN.

Nearby witness heard two rounds of gunshots

An employee of a nearby towing company says he heard two rounds of shots during the nighttime shooting.

Justin Bumbalogh, who worked at Elite Towing and Recovery, said he was half asleep when he heard some gunshots.

Bumbalogh said he heard about nine shots and recalled a clear gap between the two series of shots.

Police, he said, arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting.

FBI Seattle field office Steve Bernd told CNN they are aware of the incident and are in contact with Yakima police should they request help.
