Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi affirmed that his country stands by the Syrian people in the reconstruction phase, by strengthening economic cooperation.
During his meeting with Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas in Tehran today, Raisi described the relations between Iran and Syria as strategic, and said: The relations between Iran and Syria are based on common faith and beliefs, as well as on the spirit of steadfastness and resistance of the peoples of the two countries.
Raisi stressed that the heroics and sacrifices of the Syrian army to protect the country in the face of terrorism are a source of hope for the future of Syria.
He said: The Islamic Republic of Iran is the true friend of the Syrian people, because just as it stood by the Syrian government and people in the stage of confronting terrorism, it is also ready, during the reconstruction stage, to stand by them by strengthening comprehensive economic cooperation.
In his turn, General Abbas said: With the support of true brothers and friends, Syria was able to win the war on terrorism, and it will exercise its role in a more capable manner than before as it is a link in the axis of resistance.
He continued: The axis of resistance will play an important role in shaping the new world.
The Minister of Defense made it clear that the enemy is always waiting for opportunities to harm the solid and fraternal relations between Syria and Iran, stressing that the relations between the two countries are more deeply rooted than anyone can compromise them, and that these relations are developing and becoming more entrenched day after day than before.
The meeting was attended by the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub.
