The president of the National Federation of Hunters, Willy Schraen, said he was ready on Tuesday to lead a list for the European elections, believing he could do "
much better than the ecologists
".
Asked on Radio J about the possibility of leading such a list, he replied “
of course
”.
"
Let's say that there is a moment when we ask ourselves the question
," he added.
Defend values
“
I fought a lot and I fight for all these values which are rural, around rurality, as they say, but not only
”, he argued.
"
It can easily give a list to the
Europeans
and I think we will do much better than the greens if we had to do
it," he predicted.
The next European elections will be held in 2024. A Hunting, Fishing, Nature and Traditions (CPNT) list won 6.77% in the 1999 European elections.

“
This radical ecology which today takes anti-speciesism, anti-bullfighting or anti-hunting as an argument, these people are all the same sowing the seeds of a storm to come, we are in the process of societally fracture this country as it has never been fractured
”, accused Willy Schraen, defending hunting, considered as “
a way of life
”.
The government recently presented a hunting plan, introducing an alcohol offense and strengthening the training of hunters.
But the idea of a day without hunting, demanded by the opponents, was not accepted.
EELV ecologists, for their part, demanded the introduction of weekends, school holidays and public holidays without hunting.
