The best soccer players in history are Argentines.
In Argentina they are enjoyed but, at the same time, the intense debate continues to define who is better:
Diego Maradona or Lionel Messi
.
And a recent survey came to a conclusion.
Spoiler alert: it was made after the conquest of the World Cup in Qatar.
"Maradona or Messi?"
,
was the question included in the January national survey of
#OpinaArgentina
, which was founded to advise Governments, Political Parties, Companies and Institutional Actors in strategic analysis.
As they contemplated, the response was "forceful", because
60%
of the 1,100 respondents between January 9 and 12 in different locations throughout the country chose Messi, while
28% favored Maradona
.
Only 12% chose the neutrality of the option "don't know, don't answer".
"Maradona or Messi?".
Strong result of a survey in favor of Leo.
When analyzing the data of those surveyed more deeply, it was observed that
Diego won among the popular sectors
.
Although he did it by a narrow margin, since in the segment of lower socio-economic level Maradona was perceived as the best player by 49%, against 45% who favored Leo.
Politics also got into the discussion
: the survey remarked that those supporters of Juntos favored Messi by 76%, while those of the Frente de Todos were divided between the two world champion soccer players with the National Team (46% for each one).
Among the Liberals, meanwhile, the difference was from 67% to 24% for the Argentine star who lifted the Cup in 2022 over that of 1986.
On the other hand, although there are no gender differences in the choice of Leo over Diego,
women voted the Paris Saint Germain forward as the best in a more intense proportion than men
: 69% and 53%, respectively.
"Maradona or Messi?".
The data from the survey that chose Leo over Diego.
Curiously,
the older segment surveyed -those who are over 50 years old- did not choose Maradona
despite seeing him in his splendor, but preferred Leo by 63% against the barely 23% who went for Diego.
Something similar occurred in the target group between 30 and 49 years old, where the difference was 55% to 28%, respectively.
It was the youngest (
18-29
), then, who gave the highest percentage to those who died on November 25, 2020:
35%
.
However, it was there that Messi took
62%
of the votes.
