Al-Hasakah, SANA- The areas of Al-Hasakah governorate, in which militias are deployed, are suffering

Al-Hasakah - SANA

The areas of Al-Hasakah governorate, in which the US-backed “Qasd militia” is deployed, suffer from chaos and insecurity, which caused the spread of crime, burglary and theft, and violations that affected most of the service sectors, the most important of which is the electricity sector.

According to a source in the General Electricity Company of Hasaka, 15 percent of the transmission centers in the neighborhoods of the city of Hasaka and throughout the province were stolen, i.e. more than 1,000 centers out of the total number of about 7,000.

The source pointed out that the theft of electrical transmission centers within the areas in which the “Qasad” militia is deployed led to depriving the people of electricity, as a result of the lack of capabilities and requirements for repair operations, indicating that the centers that are being repaired are subject to theft again, and all of this is taking place under the watchful eye of the militia. “SDF”, which spreads its checkpoints and armed points in most areas of the governorate.

Similar to the transformer stations, the beams of the electric grid towers are exposed to theft, which leads to their collapse as a result of the wind, as happened during the last period, in addition to the overthrowing of the transformers on top of the electric tension towers and their dismantling to steal the copper coils contained within them, according to the same source.

The source adds: “Qasd” militia is the one that controls the distribution of the amount of electrical energy in the areas of its deployment in the governorate, as the largest amount is allocated to the northern regions, and this increases the long periods of interruption from the rest of the governorate’s areas, which creates suitable conditions for thieves to dismantle transformers, encroach on the network and steal its components. .

Local sources from the Ghweran neighborhood in the city of Al-Hasakah told SANA reporter: The theft of electrical transformers and cables deprived the people of electricity, as the western part of the neighborhood suffers greatly from the theft of electrical transformers, in addition to the digging operations carried out by the “SDF” militia, which led to cutting off Underground cables, which also deprived the people of electricity for months on end without being able to repair it.

And the sources add: This reality applies to the southern neighborhoods of the city (the eastern and western al-Nashwa, the youth housing, the al-Zuhur neighborhood, and the western and eastern Ghweran), as these neighborhoods suffer from almost continuous outages due to the repeated acts of theft that affect electrical transformers and cables.

In addition, the “Qasad” militia resorts to imposing sums of money on the residents of the neighborhoods, and sometimes deliberately cuts off the electricity supply, and does not allow the repair of faults in the electrical network except in return for royalties as household subscriptions, ranging between 1000 and 5000 pounds, and deprives the neighborhoods that do not pay these royalties from the electric current.
