On video: at least ten dead in a shooting at the Chinese New Year festival in California (Reuters)
Seven people were shot to death tonight (Tuesday) in a town in San Mateo County near San Francisco in the United States - according to reports from the CBS news agency.
The sheriff's office in the district said that the suspect, 67 years old, was arrested after going to a police parking lot, allegedly to turn himself in.
The seven were killed in a mass shooting at two scenes in the suburbs of Half Moon Bay in Northern California.
The county sheriff identified the suspect in the shooting as 67-year-old Chunli Zhao, and said he worked at one of the shooting locations.
That place turned out to be a mushroom farm, and according to the suspicion, the murdered are the farm workers.
"There were farm workers injured tonight, there were children at the shooting scenes. This is a truly heartbreaking tragedy in our community," the San Mateo County supervisor told reporters.
"The amount of pressure that has been on this community for weeks is high."
This is after the area was recently hit by a series of heavy storms in which 20 people were killed.

The sheriff's office in the town said that the suspect cooperated with the investigators, but the motive for the murder has not yet been determined.
According to him, a semi-automatic pistol was found in his car.
The police officers who responded to the call to the incident arrived at the scene and found four people dead and a fifth person in critical condition.
Later, the police found three more dead in another place near the farm.
Since the beginning of the new civil year, there have been 38 mass shootings in the United States.
During celebrations in honor of the Chinese New Year on Saturday night, ten people, five men and five women, were killed in Monterey Park, east of Los Angeles.
The suspect in the shooting is a 72-year-old man of Asian origin, who was found shot in his car and allegedly committed suicide.
The suspect was holding an illegal weapon. It has not yet been determined what was the motive for the shooting, but the possibility of a hate crime has not been ruled out.
