Kassel – The saying “April does what it wants” is widespread.

This year, January seems to have the same motto.

After the year started unusually mild, winter is coming back at the end of the month and brings bad weather with it, the weather service

wetter.de informs.

In many parts of the country, the last week of January started with a high of good weather, but this is expected to change significantly in the second half.

Cold, rain and snow and even storms are said to sweep across the country.

As the first month of the year draws to a close, the weather forecast for February is also chilly according to the centennial calendar.

But first there is a change in the weather and the winter disappears for the time being, in many parts of Germany it is becoming milder, as

hna.de

reports.

Uncomfortable winter weather in Germany: snowstorm towards the end of the week

On Tuesday (January 24th) and Wednesday (January 25th) the weather will still benefit from the subsiding high before winter comes back with a vengeance.

There may be light snowfall, but it is expected to stay dry for the most part.

In some places the sun even shows up on Tuesday, the temperatures fluctuate between minus one and six degrees.

The renewed weather change will gradually come from Thursday (January 26).

In the course of the day, at the latest by nightfall, rain and sometimes sleet will move across the country from the north.

Temperatures drop to minus two to five degrees.

It will be a bit colder, but should stay dry until Wednesday evening

  • Thursday (January 26) and Friday (January 27):

Snow and sleet will move from the northwest to the southeast

  • Saturday (January 28) and Sunday (January 29):

Winter weather returns: From Thursday up to 30 centimeters of snow in Germany

The cool rain front spreads from northwest to southeast.

The low temperatures mean that the rain freezes and the roads can become icy.

Up to six degrees are possible in the north, minus degrees are expected in the south.

The uncomfortable weather is expected to continue through Friday (January 27).

Snow and sleet are still very likely, especially in the south-east.

Up to 30 centimeters of fresh snow are possible.

“We are getting a north current and with it a north congestion.

Not only in the Alps, but also in the low mountain ranges.

The snow will hold above 500 meters, maybe a little bit below that,” reports

expert Jan Schenk .

Permafrost can also occur at higher elevations such as the mountains.

Snowstorm at the weekend: Winter weather still has Germany under control

The weekend stays cold.

Clouds and frost are expected to spread on Saturday (January 28), and there may also be fog in some places.

However, new rain and snow are moving in from the north-west, and temperatures are leveling off between minus three and six degrees.

At the end of the week, the weather is at its most uncomfortable: "There's a risk of a real snowstorm in Germany at the weekend," said Schenk.

It will be significantly windier, especially in the north, and thunderstorms and heavy snowstorms can occur.

Even a storm surge should be possible on the North Sea coast.

The week ends stormy, but the storm is expected to move further across the country from the north at the beginning of next week.
