A resident of Rosh Ha'Ain, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape a decade ago - the police announced today (Wednesday).
The officers arrived at the suspect after his brother, who had recently been involved in a fight, was arrested.
A DNA sample taken from him during his arrest led to the identification of the family connection with the rape suspect a decade ago.
"Ten years later, the police officers of the Rosh Ha'Ein station arrested a resident of the city for involvement in a violent incident, and after taking a DNA sample from him in the new case, a family match was found with the forensic findings of the attempted rape case," the police statement said.
The suspect will be brought to a hearing on the extension of his detention at the Magistrate's Court in Petah Tikva.
