Breitling is launching a limited edition of just 747 pieces of its famous pilot's watch, in homage to the legendary airliner.

After more than half a century of service, the Jumbo Jet will gradually disappear from the airstrips.

The airliner that will have done so much for the development of commercial aviation by putting long-haul flights within reach of ordinary mortals will no longer be produced from 2023. The Boeing 747 was launched in 1969. This year, the 1574th and last example will be delivered and will take off.

Originally consisting of two aisles and two decks, the Jumbo Jet could carry twice as many passengers as the second largest aircraft, and fly more than 5,000 nautical miles.

To pay homage to this aircraft which literally changed the way of traveling and flying, Breitling is offering a special edition Navitimer, of course limited to 747 pieces.

“The Boeing 747 brought elegance to the air, just as the Navitimer brought the spirit of aviation to watch lovers with a sense of style

,” commented Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling.

This resolutely vintage style Navitimer Boeing 747 features the famous AOPA logo at twelve o'clock, a symbol of its heritage as a pilot's chronograph.

Indeed, the Navitimer, created by Breitling in 1952, was originally designed for the Association of Aircraft Owners and Pilots.

It quickly became the quintessential pilot's watch during the golden age of civil aviation thanks to its distinctive circular slide rule, allowing calculations to be made in mid-flight.

The cream colors of the dial recall the hues of the original Boeing 747, in addition to black sub-dials and a red and white slide rule with blue accents.

The name "Boeing 747" has been subtly integrated into the interior scale of the slide rule.

The watch is also equipped with a calendar with an integrated date window at six o'clock.

As for the open case back, it reveals the Manufacture Breitling 01 caliber and is engraved with the words

“One of 747”

and

“The Original Jumbo Jet”.
