Despite the shroud of secrecy that surrounds the extraordinary exercise, security officials explain that it is intended to send a message to Iran regarding the readiness of the US for an attack on its territory. The bombers used by the armies stand out in the exercise, which are capable of carrying tens of tons of missiles and destroying targets dug deep in the ground - nuclear facilities

The IDF announced on Monday this week the opening of the "Basalt Oaks" exercise together with the Central Command of the United States Army. This, after the American commanders arrived in Israel last week, among other things, to approve plans and participate in the change of command between former Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and Chief of Staff Harezi HaLevi.

While the IDF said the exercise would test joint Israeli-American preparedness, in practice security officials said the exercise simulated complex scenarios for an attack on targets very far from the borders of the State of Israel, and in defense against diverse threats to the rear of the State of Israel, while integrating a variety of American and Israeli forces in the air and on land.

According to security officials, for the purpose of the mission, joint commanders are being used to synchronize the complex operations, and to create a common language between all the forces. Among the other forces, this exercise will include, among others, missile ships, aircraft carriers, remotely manned aircraft, Navy submarines, helicopters. , fighter planes, refueling planes, transport and attack helicopters, various vessels, batteries for launching rockets, and American naval tankers.

Despite the great effort of the IDF and the United States Army to impose compartmentalization on the exercise, security officials explained that the scenarios of the exercise are adapted to attack targets in the third circle - Iran. The security officials added that if any of the parties in the Middle East had doubts about the degree of seriousness of the United States in the exercise, then it is important to emphasize the combination of the "Ram" refueling planes of the Israeli Air Force, and the KC46 planes made by the Boeing Company of the United States Army. According to the sources, the IDF is purchasing these planes from the US Department of Defense, which will significantly upgrade the scope of fuel for aerial refueling and their range of action.

To send a message to the Ayatollah regime, American B-52 bombers are included in the exercise, each capable of carrying more than thirty tons of assorted bombs, and a flight range of more than 14,000 kilometers without aerial refueling.

Also, the bomber is capable of carrying nuclear missiles.

The capabilities of the bombers, which in the past year received an escort of Adir planes from the Israeli Air Force in the Middle East, indicate an intention to test attack and destruction through a huge scope of armaments against targets dug deep in the ground, similar to nuclear facilities in Iran.

In addition to this, a sea, air and land maneuver was carried out that simulates offensive and defensive operations, intelligence gathering and even rescue.

Yesterday, dozens of rocket launches were practiced in southern Israel using the himars system, each battery capable of launching six rockets, each weighing 5 tons, in a few seconds.

The security officials refused to comment on the naval maneuver, but it can be learned from the tankers and the size of the vessels that there is an intention to stay away from the borders of the State of Israel in the maritime space, as well as to deal with a scenario of fast vessels similar to the fleets of vessels operated by the Iranian army.

It is important to emphasize that the exercise is one of the achievements of former Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, who insisted to his colleagues in the American Army and the Ministry of Defense that in order to convince the Iranians that there is a clear intention to assume a military option against the nuclear facilities, operative plans must be worked on and practiced for this.
