An indictment was filed against two residents of the north who violently attacked and even set fire to a 17-year-old's car, after they suspected that he was impersonating a girl to whom they had sent an intimate photo. The two brothers, about 20 years old, were arrested after the attack, and although they were removed from the victim, he returned to threaten him: "If you file a complaint, we will take you down"

Two young men from the north who suspected the boy of impersonating a girl to whom one of them had sent an intimate photograph of him, beat the boy and set fire to his car.

Later it turned out that the two were mistaken in the identification, and the photo was not sent to the victim at all.

The details of the difficult case are described in an indictment submitted five days ago to the District Court in Nazareth by the North District Attorney's Office.

The charges against the two brothers are robbery under aggravated circumstances together, arson, violation of a legal order and against one of them also a charge of impeachment in the investigation.

The indictment shows that two brothers, residents of Tuba aged 19 and 21, suspected the 17-year-old boy of impersonating a girl and as such contacted the older brother.

During the relationship, the 21-year-old man sent an intimate picture to the profile of the woman he corresponded with.

The two noticed a boy driving his family's car in the streets of Tuba, with another boy in the car with him.

They followed their route of travel and at some point came with their car in front of the car in which the two boys were traveling, blocked the travel lane and forced them to stop the car.

At this point the two defendants got out of their car with a baseball bat and tear gas spray in their hands.

They approached the "impersonating" boy, beat him with one of his hands and sprayed him with tear gas on his face and body while cursing him and slapping him in the face because he pretended to be a girl to them.

The attacked boy tried to return to the car and take the car key and in response the defendants again sprayed tear gas in his face.

One of the attacking brothers got into the boy's car and fled the scene with it while his brother followed him in his car.

When they reached an open area near a concrete factory in the village, they set fire to the car they had stolen from the boy.

The two were arrested shortly after the incident and a week later were released by the decision of an appointed officer, while various restrictions were imposed on them, including a ban on entering the village and a ban on having any contact with the attacked boy.

Despite this, one of the brothers arrived in the village, met the complaining boy and warned him not to complain to the police about what was done to him.

"Be careful about filing a complaint," he told him and added, "If you file a complaint, we will take you down. We know where your father works and where your sisters work."

The case of the assault, the arson and the threats against the boy who was beaten, was investigated by the officers of the "Yordan" police station in Rosh Pina.

According to Associate Professor Alex Zorbel, "This is a very serious case of severe violence." Zorbel pointed out that "besides the forensic evidence that was collected during the investigation and helped form the indictment, what was very significant was the cooperation of the victim with the investigators.

It was a tie-breaking move in this case.

As soon as the victim did not give in to the pressure of the criminals, we were able to establish this case."
