President Yitzhak Herzog took off this morning (Wednesday) for an official visit to the European Union in Belgium, during which he will meet with King Philip, and address the European Union Parliament at a special gathering to mark International Holocaust Day.
Before taking off, Herzog said that he would raise in his speech and in all the meetings the Iranian threat to Israel and the world, the issue of prisoners and the missing, and also "tell the story of the victims of the Holocaust and the survivors of the Holocaust."

It should be noted that the trip is taking place at a time in Israel where there is disappointment with the soft position that Europe is showing towards Iran.
Following the serious violations of the nuclear agreement by Iran, the murderous suppression of the Iranian people's protest and the aid that Tehran provides to Russia in the war against Ukraine, Jerusalem believes that the European Union and its members should activate the "snapback" mechanism.
This is a clause in the 2015 nuclear agreement that allows the Europeans to return the sanctions that were lifted from Iran following its signing of the agreement at the time.
Israel also expects that the Europeans will hold discussions against Iran in the UN Security Council.
"Israel Hayom" learned that at a meeting held last week with senior French officials who visited the country, the demand was raised for aggressive action against Iran in the international arena - a demand that, for now, has not been met.
