Hybrid or plug-in: the new Lexus RX in Israel

The Lexus importer is launching the fifth generation Lexus RX in Israel, concluding a particularly successful year in the local market.

Despite the many challenges posed by the global car market and supply problems, Lexus has managed to maintain its strength and will register a figure of approximately 1,850 deliveries in 2022.

This means that Lexus managed to maintain its strength compared to last year, even though the luxury market in Israel shrank by 5%.

By the way, 82% of Lexus' sales in Israel last year were of models also equipped with an electric motor (mainly hybrids), while the average among premium brands was a total of 49.5%.

In the coming year, Lexus expects to increase to an electric market share of 92% and increase deliveries to 2,200 cars, partly thanks to doubling the number of crossovers it will offer in Israel to six, with the addition of the LX (in January), the electric RZ (March-April) and crossover models A new one that will be introduced soon and will arrive in Israel towards the end of the year.

The new Lexus RX should also contribute to achieving the goal.

The new generation of Lexus RX is developed on a new platform (TNGA version GA-K) which includes support for a selection of hybrid drive units and new advanced safety systems. .

The dimensions of the vehicle have not changed significantly compared to the outgoing generation, but the wheelbase has grown by 6 cm to 285 cm and guarantees improved space for the five passengers.

The 7-seater version that was offered in the outgoing model, is dropped from the offer in the new model for now.

In the passenger compartment, the car aligns with the new design language of Lexus, which includes a driver's environment with a clean and mainly more digital design, with a 14" central touch screen, the possibility of improved voice commands that will be offered as standard in all trim levels and a digital dashboard (partially in the base versions).

The new RX will be offered with a choice of 3 engines.

The entry version will be the hybrid RX350 that uses a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors, producing 250 hp and offering acceleration to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, along with an average fuel consumption of 15.7 km per liter according to the manufacturer's data.

The price of this version will start from NIS 399,990.

Above it, a PHEV version will be offered for the first time in the history of the model.

This version is called RX450h+ and includes a configuration similar to the RX350 but with more powerful electric motors and a combined power of 307 hp.

A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 18.1 kilowatt/hour will allow full electric travel for a range of up to 65 km.

The price of this version will start from NIS 464,990.

At the end of the model family, the sporty RX500h will be offered, offering a combination of a 2.4-liter turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor, which provide a combined power of 271 hp and offer acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.

This model will be offered with a "DIRECT4" dual drive system, dynamic rear steering, a 6-speed planetary automatic transmission and a variable adaptive suspension system and is also expected to offer driving pleasure, an area where the RX has not excelled so far.

This version will only come with the F Spot package and the price is NIS 549,990.

The other versions will be offered in several trim levels.

The basic trim level "KYUSHU" (in the RX350 only) includes slightly sparse equipment in relation to the price and positioning of the vehicle, and includes the multimedia system, electric and heated front seats, an electric tailgate, light "19" rims, artificial leather upholstery and the full safety package.

The second trim level "Hadori" is richer and also includes 21" rims, a panoramic glass roof, ventilation for the seats, 360 degree cameras, natural leather upholstery and more.

The "Takumi" trim level (RX450+ only) also includes a premium display, real wood trim, heated rear seats, a digital center mirror, adaptive suspension and a premium Mark Levinson sound system with 23 speakers.

The importer estimates that in the coming year it will sell around 400 cars of the new

models , and the first shipment of the model will be delivered to customers starting this January.
